electricity consumption rose in October for the fourth consecutive month, reducing the slump since January to 0.2%, fueled and renewable production this year 57% of domestic consumption, according to data from REN.

According to the data of REN – Redes National Energy, the electricity consumption recorded in October, an increase of 1.2% over the same month of 2012, which is limited to 0 , 9% correction of the effects of temperature and number of days.

Between January and October this year, consumption showed a downward trend of 0.4% over the same period of 2012, or 0.2% with correction for temperature effects and days.

By the end of October, 57% of national electricity consumption was fueled by renewable sources: hydro 28%, wind 23%, 6% biomass photovoltaic and 1%.

Since coal plants fueled 22% of consumption and natural gas plants 14%.

Note also for the fact that in the early morning of 22 October, wind generation has reached its highest level ever: 3840 Megawatt (MW).

In October, the trend importer who has registered in recent months remained, with annual import balance equivalent at the end of the month, 6% of total consumption.
